All week we've been wondering who Boeheim's Army's Ringer, the mystery player allowed to join the team for the rest of the tournament, would be. While Syracuse Orange had visions of Gerry McNamara dancing in their heads, the smart money seemed to be on James Southerland, Andy Rautins, Scoop Jardine or Trevor Cooney. The tournament and the team remained mum, building hype and expectation.
As The Army prepapres for their 7 p.m. TBT game against The Untouchables in the Super 16, they finally spilled the beans. It's James Southerland.
But there could only be ONE! #TheRinger is: James Southerland @Js4III #BoeheimsArmy #BeatPitt pic.twitter.com/Aa5kBDvmd9

If there's anything the SU alum team needed, it was a three-point threat. It was one of their weaknesses in the opening weekend. Having a guy like Southie means they can rely on him to take the big shot, allieviating pressure from other guards like Willie Deane and Eric Devendorf, who can create other opportunities as well.
Meanwhile, Donte Greene was supposed to join Boeheim's Army last week but was unable to make it. This week, however, he's in Philly and ready to go.

The news that BA now has two fresh players to add to it's already-imposing roster is huge. In a do-or-die tournament like this, any advantage is key and bringing two unscouted players into the fold helps with the depth and in terms of weapons on the court.
Now head over to ESPN2 or WatchESPN to watch The Army roll.
