Get to Know Your Orange Man - #45 Kenneth Ruff

Let's get to know the freshman early enrollee who's already on the top of the depth chart.

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Kenneth Ruff

Position: DE

Year: Freshman

Height: 6'1''

Weight: 258

Hometown: Lauderhill, Fla.

High School: Dillard High School

2015 Stats: He spent last season as a linebacker for Dillard High School, where he accumulated 98 tackles, 19 sacks, three forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.

2016 Projections: Ruff is currently listed first on the depth chart at defensive end. He'll likely get thrown off of the starting job once grad transfer De'Jon Wilson arrives, but he should still be a frequent contributor on the defensive line.

How'd He Get Here?: He was originally committed to Virginia, but flipped while on a visit with current commits and enrollees Rex Culpepper, Carl Jones, Moe Neal, and Scoop Bradshaw. It ironically came a day after it was reported his primary recruiter at Virginia, running backs coach Chris Beatty, was coming to Syracuse. Though he eventually wound up at Maryland, Ruff still enrolled early.

What'd Recruiting Sites Say?: Rivals, 247Sports, and Scout all listed him as a three-star prospect.

Money Quote: On his primary recruiter Nick Monroe:

"He is a great man away from football. We rarely even talk about football. We speak on life."

Links of Wonder: Syracuse is currently recruiting 3-Star DE Jordan Wright, who is Ruff's cousin.

Tweets of Wonder: His Twitterfeed is private.

What Does the Coaching Staff Think of Him?: Like so many SU players, they haven't commented on him publicly yet.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: For a man of Ruff's size, a 4.82 40-yard dash is pretty impressive.
