Get To Know Your Orange Man - No. 46, TE PJ Batten

Batten will be fighting for playing time again in 2016.

Glenn Beil-USA TODAY Sports

Name: PJ Batten

Position: Tight End

Year: Junior (Redshirt)

Height: 6-3

Weight: 234

Hometown: Miami, Florida

High School: Dade Christian

2015 Stats: Batten didn't play in any games in 2014 or 2015 and took a redshirt year in 2013. But he was a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in Spring 2014, which is nice.

2016 Projections: It's not looking good. Batten is listed at fifth on the depth chart behind three seniors (Cameron MacPherson, Kendall Moore and Josh Parris) and another redshirt junior (Tyler Provo).

How'd He Get Here?: Batten first committed to Kent State, but then flipped  to Syracuse. His other Power Five offers were from Duke, Kentucky and Minnesota. There's a nice story about how Batten first caught the eye of George McDonald.

What'd Recruiting Sites Say?: Scout gave Batten two stars, while Rivals was a little more generous with three stars.

Money Quote: It's been a while now, but Patten was really excited to get to Cuse back in 2013:

"I'm looking forward to ebing up there, being part of that great future."

It's a different "great future" than it was at the time, but we'll take it.

Links of Wonder: Batten came in as a tight end, but then switched to linebacker for an opportunity at playing time. He's since switched back, obviously.

Twitter Feed: @_OBEYMYSWAG101. Cute.

Tweets of Wonder: Patten wants his future children to do as he says, not as he does. And in all caps, too:

What Does The Coaching Staff Think of Him?: No word from the staff yet. Patten did have an offer from Bowling Green in 2013, but that was before Babers arrived.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Had it not been for a late SAT score, Patten probably would have ended up at Duke. Terrence Alls, one of his best friends in high school, had committed to Duke the previous summer:

"I was mad because I really wanted to go to school with my friend. We've been going to the same school since sixth grade."
