Get To Know Your Orange Man - No. 48, K Cole Murphy

The junior looks to have another stellar season as a member of the Lou Groza Award Watchlist. Here's what you need to know about him.

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Cole Murphy

Position: Placekicker

Year: Junior

Height: 6' 3"

Weight: 197

Hometown: Castaic, Calif.

High School: Valencia

2015 Stats: Cole's 85 points led the entire team for the second consecutive year and his 7.1 points per game was good enough for seventh among ACC placekickers. He hit all 37 of his extra point attempts and went 16 for 22, 72.7 percent, on field goals.

2016 Projections: Cole has been named to Athlon's Third-Team All-ACC and to the Lou Groza Award Watchlist this season, so there are great expectations for him.

How'd He Get Here?: Cole turned down offers from Cal Poly-SLO and Iowa, opting instead for the balmy weather of Syracuse.

What'd Recruiting Sites Say?: They surprisingly said nothing. Look who's laughing now...

Money Quote: In his preview interview with Brian Higgins before the NC State game in 2014, on the difference in mindset between kicking in the Dome versus in front of 80,000-plus at Clemson:

"The basics (go through my mind). Hitting your target, keep your eyes back, and follow through. Once you go out there, you're kinda numb. You aren't really feeling (the pressure)."

Links of Wonder: After being basically thrown into the mix to take over for Ryan Norton, Cole proved that he was worthy of a scholarship and earned one at the start of last season.

Tweets of Wonder: Cole doesn't tweet that often but I think it's safe to say that he and his teammates are itching for September 2:

What Does Dino Babers/The Coaching Staff Think of Him?: They haven't said anything specifically just yet, but I don't think it's particularly necessary given how successful Cole has been over the past two years taking over for Ryan Norton.

Interesting Nugget O' Interest: The town where Cole went to school has a music video. Oh my...

Let's Get a Good Look Atcha: Here's Cole's game-winner in the final game of the season, and the Scott Shafer Era, against BC:
