Hometown: Ellenwood, GA

High School: Arabia Mountain

2015 Stats: Started all 12 games for the Orange at Nose tackle. Samuels recorded 15 tackles, eight solo. He also recorded one fumble.

2016 Projections: Samuels is listed a the starter at nose tackle once again for the Orange on the post-spring depth chart. He will most likely split time with Steven Clark, which is essentially what the two did last season.

How’d He Get Here?: Local option Georgia State was recruiting Samuels very hard but wanted him to greyshirt. Samuels said no and chose Syracuse over Maryland, Boise State, and others.

What’d Recruiting Sites Say?: Two stars from Rivals and Scout. Three stars from 247sports.

Money Quote: Kayton on earning his starting gig:

“Starting spot is never stable. Any time you get off your game, that’s it, you’re not starting anymore. I just have to keep going up. Can’t go down at anytime.”
