What Is Your Earliest Syracuse Sports Memory?

New, 76 comments

The general version of this question was making the rounds last week. We figured we'd make it Syracuse-specific.

Last week there was great question making the rounds on Twitter.

Then that question got narrowed down to sports. Depending on how old you are, it could have been Carl Lewis winning at the Olympics or when the Red Sox came back from down 3-0 to beat the Yankees.

Now, we make it even more granular and ask you to recount the earliest Syracuse Orange sports memory you have. Could be football. Could be basketball. Could be lacrosse. Could be anything, really.

I didn't really become a Syracuse fan until 1996 but if I think back, I can remember the ending of the 1988 Sugar Bowl. Even as a ten-year-old, it seemed like a weird thing that you were able to tie a game. I didn't particularly have a rooting interest on that day but I always did have a soft spot for Syracuse football throughout the late 80's and early 90's. If it was because of that finish, I don't know.

How about you?
