Former Syracuse Orange Brandon Mullins saw his first major league action of the season when Boston Cannons faced the Atlanta Blaze. He was subsequently awarded the Cascade Rookie of the Week honors for his stellar play on the field.

Mullins matched up against fellow Syracuse standout Kevin Rice who had been averaging about five goals-per-game at the start of the contest. He was able to limit Rice to only two goals, while picking up five ground balls himself. Previously, the Blaze had scored a combined 45 goals in their two previous games while Mullins and the rest of the defense limited them to just a dozen goals on the day in their 21-12 defeat. He was also named Coca-Cola Player of the Game for his debut performance.

As a defenseman for the Orange, Mullins was a member of the All-ACC Team, the ACC All-Tournament Team, and a Second-Team All-American. Cannons head coach Sean Quirk is very pleased with what he has seen from the young gun:

"Brandon was a great addition to the lineup. He covered former Syracuse star, Kevin Rice, and did a fantastic job on him along with playing team defense and pushing a strong transition game. Our defense is deep and Brandon adds even more depth to the team."

We wish Mullins and all of our former Orange alumni competing professionally the best, as always!
