Former Syracuse Star Carmelo Anthony Will Play in 2016 Rio Olympics

The Syracuse legend looks to add a third gold medal to his trophy case.

Former Syracuse Orange star Carmelo Anthony will pursue his third gold medal in the upcoming Olympics in Rio, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Should team USA win the gold again, Anthony will become one of the winningest basketball Olympians in history. This will be Melo's third straight Olympic appearance. He earned a bronze medal in 2004 followed by gold in 2008 and 2012. And given their previous success under Coach K and Jim Boeheim, gold should be expected again.

Anthony had previously stated that he was unsure about playing in Rio, saying a lot will go into his decision on if he would play or not.

Carmelo will be playing with a loaded cast again in 2016, with Kyle Lowry and Jimmy Butler already committing to play. With such great players around him, he will undoubtedly get great looks at the basket, and it should be no surprise if we see a performance like this again in 2016:

Parabéns, Carmelo.
