Just a few weeks ago, the Syracuse Orange football program thought they had a commitment from a Top 100 fullback in the class of 2017. Connor Koch looked like the perfect fit as the Orange are thin on fullbacks, and he already has family ties to the school with both his father's parents having attended SU.
While Coach Babers and his staff did not offer Koch a scholarship, they did offer him a preferred walk-on position on the team and Koch committed to the Orange on May 26th.
Wednesday, Koch tweeted that he was reopening his recruitment.
I have decided to decommitt from Syracuse University for the time being in order to reevaluate all options. My recruitment status is open.

"There are so many great schools out there, and Syracuse is one of them," Koch said. "But why not try to earn a scholarship elsewhere and make (college) easier on my family?"
It's within the realm of possibility that Koch could end up in Syracuse but it sounds like he's going to look for a better offer, which is fair enough.
