Seven members of the CHA runner-up Syracuse Orange Women's Ice Hockey team were given All-Academic honors by the conference earlier this week. The selections are made based on whether or not the student-athlete posts a 3.0 GPA or higher "during all academic semesters in which her team was actively competing."

This year's recipients for the Orange were former standouts forward Melissa Piacentini and defenseman Nicole Renault, rising junior forward Stephanie Grossi, rising senior forward Jessica Sibley, rising senior forward Morgan Blank, rising senior defenseman Larissa Martyniuk, and rising senior forward Heather Schwarz. For Piacentini and Renault, it was their fourth-straight year being selected while Grossi and Sibley received their second-straight honor. Blank, Martyniuk, and Schwarz were first-timers.

Piacentini and Renault penned professional contracts with the Bolzano Eagles of the Elite Women's Hockey League in Bolzano, Italy back in April. The Eagles have won the last six titles but are currently sitting in sixth place in the conference.
