Syracuse Football Recruiting: Orange Grab a Commit From Nykeim Johnson

Syracuse picks up its fifth commit in the Class of 2017, expect the commits to keep rolling in this summer as coaches travel around to camps and recruits.

On Tuesday, 2017 wide receiver Nykeim Johnson announced via Twitter that he was committed to Syracuse:

Johnson, a three-star prospect per 247 sports, attends Friendship Academy in Washington D.C. Johnson is only listed at 5-foot-9 and 167 pounds, making him more of a slot receiver rather than an outside receiver. Scout lists Johnson’s 40-yard dash time at 4.42, making him very valuable in Dino Babers’s high speed offense.

Nykeim’s strengths are definitely his speed and when he gets out in the open field he is very difficult to catch.

He joins Sharod Johnson as the two wide receivers (so far) in Syracuse’s Class of 2017. Both players are listed as slot receivers, so Syracuse is likely done at the slot in the Class of 2017.

Syracuse is up to five players in the Class of 2017 and have picked up their second commitment in the last three days. Look for that trend to continue as coaches make their rounds to summer camps and prospects visit the campus this summer.
