We had to know this was going to come up at some point. After all, Syracuse Orange football head coach Dino Babers coached under Art Briles at Baylor.
Once it was announced that Briles would no longer be a part of the Baylor programdue to a sexual violence scandal at the school involving football players, you knew Babers would get asked about it.
On Wednesday, while Babers was speaking with the media during a combine-styled workout hosted by Syracuse for Fort Drum soldiers, the subject came up. Babers, predictably, did not want to comment on the situation.
Said Babers, from Syracuse.com:
"I don't even want to talk about that stuff right now," Babers said. "Obviously it's very explosive and it's very newsworthy, but I just want to honor what we're doing right here with Drum and honor our military. It's very personal, and I just don't want to bring it into the press."
There hasn't been any reason to believe that Babers was involved in misconduct during his time at Baylor between 2008-11. Developments at Baylor related to the scandal have been ongoing recently, so Babers remaining silent on the situation is reasonable and probably the best thing to do at this point in time.
