As of right now Syracuse Orange football has only three players committed to its 2017 class, but with the offseason in full swing Dino Babers is trying to fix that. He and the Syracuse coaching staff offered a pair of 2017 recruits Friday: John Kirven and Gavin Holmes.
We don't actually know who got the Syracuse offer first, but we do know John Kirven took to Twitter first:
I am very blessed to have received an offer from Syracuse University! pic.twitter.com/dQnv3owNhB

Kirven is listed as a three-star tight end on the major recruiting sites. He was committed to Virginia until March and the Cavaliers are still the favorites to land the 6-foot-6, 240 pound Virginia native. His other offers include Illinois, Pitt, NC State and others. Kirven has also gotten interest from Penn State and Michigan.
Less than two hours after Kirven tweeted out his offer, Holmes did the same:

Holmes's offer list is much longer than Kirven's. Wisconsin, Duke, Iowa, Army, Air Force, Kansas and many more have joined SU in offering the three-star wide receiver from Justin, Texas. Holmes just decommitted from Duke earlier this week, and the Orange spared no time in putting a scholarship offer in his hands. Holmes said he needed time to "weigh out all [his] options," so the blue Devils are certainly not out of the running.
