Get To Know Your Orange Man - #91, DE Trey Dunkelberger

Dunkelberger will need to step up on the defensive line for the Orange this season.

NCAA Football: Syracuse at Wake Forest Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Trey Dunkelberger

Position: Trey moved from tight end to defensive end this offseason.

Year: Junior

Height: 6’ 5”

Weight: 230 lbs.

Hometown: Shillington, PA

High School: Governor Mifflin

2015 Stats: According to Cuse.com, Dunkelberger didn't record any stats last year but he did make his debut against Rhode Island.

2016 Projections: Dunkelberger is currently listed as a backup defensive end in the post-spring depth chart behind Kenneth Ruff. Syracuse is extremely thin at DE, so Trey is sure to see some time. The Orange currently only have three scholarship players at defensive end.

How’d He Get Here?: Trey attended Pierce College out of high school where he played in the JUCO ranks. He only was at Pierce for one season before transferring to Syracuse. The Orange beat out the likes of Cincinnati, Louisville, and Buffalo for Dunk’s services.

What’d Recruiting Sites Say?: Three stars across the board!

Money Quote: ‘Dunk’ spoke on his transition to defensive end with Syracuse.com 's Nate Mink:

“Over the summer, I’m going to work on weight and strength. Once fall comes I’m coming for No. 1 and I want to play. I made the switch because I want to help the team and I’m going to do whatever it takes.”
