As we've known for about a week at least, the Syracuse Orange men's lacrosse team is in the 2016 NCAA Tournament field. Now we know where and when. SU, who received an eight-seed, will face in-state opponent University of Albany in the first round of the tourney. The game will take place on Sunday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse has faced the Great Danes in the NCAA Tournament once before. The Orange beat Albany 21-13 in the first round back in 2004. As the team's official Twitter feed notes, they're 13-1 all-time as an eight-seed.
Albany was the class of America East during the regular season, but failed to win the league's postseason tournament, which likely assisted in slipping them off the seeded lines. Syracuse beat the Danes 16-7 back in February at the Dome. The Orange, as you know, won the ACC last week.Elsewhere, this past weekend's conference tournaments were filled with upsets -- a surprising development for the sport -- throwing the field for a loop prior to the Selection Show on ESPNU.

Syracuse is one of four ACC teams to make the NCAA Tournament this year. Notre Dame leads the pack as a third seed, and will face off with Air Force. North Carolina will visit six-seed Marquette, and Duke will be on the road at seven-seed Loyola. The Orange will face the winner of top-seed Maryland and the winner of the Hartford/Quinnipiac game in the quarterfinals. Albany is the only repeat SU opponent in its quarter of the bracket. Johns Hopkins (unseeded vs. Brown) is the only potential repeat opponent in the other half of the bracket's left side.
Full bracket is here for those that want to give it a look. Jim will be here with an in-depth reaction tomorrow morning.
