Syracuse Football Recruiting: Orange Add 2017 Preferred Walk-On FB Connor Koch

Fullback? It's been awhile...

While the 2017 Syracuse Orange football recruiting class is slow to build, the team appears to be adept at adding quality walk-on athletes.

First reported by Scout's Mike McAllister, SU added preferred walk-on fullback Connor Koch last night.

The Virginia (Woodberry Forrest School) product currently comes in at 6-foot-3 and 248 pounds according to Scout. He's the first fullack added to the roster in a few years, but the strong family connections (his father's parents both attended SU) helped seal the deal.

As he told McAllister:

"I have strong family connections. The academics that the school offered for what I want to major in (business/communications) were something I couldn't pass on... "I came back to my phone after practice on Tuesday afternoon and had a message from coach (Mike) Hart laying out the situation. How they would take me on the offensive side of the ball and as a preferred walk-on. It was very quick."

Koch is among the 100 best fullbacks in the country, says Scout, with interest from the Citadel, Georgia, TCU and Virginia at the moment. While he plays defensive end and outside linebacker in high school currently, you can see his speed being a big asset as he potentially tries to work his way into Dino Babers's offensive scheme.
