Earlier this month, Class of 2017 three-star DE Zach Morton committed to Syracuse. Morton, out of Cass Tech in Detroit, is the second defensive commit of the 2017 group.
Zach spoke to MLive recently, stating that "consistency and relationships" were a major part of his decision in picking SU. He liked Coach Babers' personability and that his recruiter was also his position coach, Coach Vinson Reynolds.
Morton is following Cass Tech teammate Tim Walton, a Syracuse 2016 commit, to the Orange but stated that he made the decision independent of Walton.
As to what he can bring to the table, Morton stated he's good at balancing speed and strength. He's looking forward to getting into the backfield to "destroy the quarterback."
"I never trash talk and I like to stay humble," Morton said. "I have a motor in me, and I', not going to stop on a play."
Morton stood out at The Opening Chicago regional camp in offensive line versus defensive line 1-on-1 competitions, according to 247Sports.
Cass Tech usually sends talent to plenty of Big Ten schools, so Syracuse will want to keep this pipeline open for years to come.
