Syracuse Basketball Recruiting: Taurean Thompson's Visit 'Went Well,' Per Coach

All eyes turn to 6-foot-10 Taurean Thomspson, the coveted final puzzle piece in Syracuse's 2016 class.

It was an eventful weekend on the Syracuse Orange recruiting front.

We found out that we'd locked up a grad transfer commitment from Colorado State Rams guard John Gillon, adding depth and experience to our backcourt. We also found out that 2016 big man Cheickna Dembele would be taking his talents to UNLV.

That means if the Orange want to fill the remaining schedule available for 2016 on a big forward/center who can contribute, they're set their sights on Taurean Thompson. The 6-foot-10 senior was part of a slew of recruiting who visited SU this weekend and he's clearly the guy the coaching staff covet most. While he didn't commit on the spot when he was here, he did enjoy his time on the hill according to his high school coach.

"Taurean's visit went well,'' Brewster coach Jason Smith said via text message on Monday morning. "He enjoyed it very much.''

Smith said that Thompson didn't have any other visits planned at this point. He had visited Syracuse previously, but took this trip with his mother, Sherese Piper.

Gotta like the idea of the mom visit considering she's probably the one you have to recruit just as much as the player. According to Smith, Thompson has no deadline for making his decision currently. Thankfully, Matthew Moyer was on campus this weekend as well so you know he put the full-court press on while he had an audience.
