Syracuse Orange (redshirt) senior center Jason Emerich has been named to the 2016 Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List, which was released on Tuesday afternoon.

The Rimington Trophy is presented to the most outstanding center in FBS football, and it has been awarded annually since 2000.

Emerich is one of 59 players on this year's spring watch list.

A native of New Ringgold, Penn., Emerich appeared in all 12 games last season, moving into the starting lineup in Week 3 against Central Michigan and starting the final 10 games.

The redshirt senior is also very accomplished off the field. Emerich is the president of the Syracuse University chapter of Uplifting Athletes. In that role, he organized the groups's first public "Lift for Life" event last season. "Life for Life" raised $12,000 to combat Anaplastic astrocytoma, a rare form of brain cancer former Orange punter Rob Long was diagnosed with in 2010. Emerich was also selected to the All-ACC Academic Team in 2015.

Emerich is one of eight ACC players to make the list. Joining him are Alec Eberle (Florida State), Alex Officer (Pitt), Freddie Burden (Georgia Tech), Jackson Matteo (Virginia), Jay Guillermo (Clemson), Lucas Crowley (North Carolina) and Nicholas Linder (Miami).
