The #PrayersForPearl campaign has raised tons of awareness about the situation involving Syracuse Orange legend Pearl Washington and his ongoing fight with a brain tumor that he was diagnosed with last summer. Saturday, Donna Ditota shared the sad news that, according to a friend, Pearl is now "gravely ill" and probably doesn't have much longer.
"The doctors have said it won't be long, but we don't know what that means," Finney said from New York, where he is with Washington and Washington's fiancée Debra Busacco. "It could be a month, it could be weeks. We're just accepting that God is ready for him. It's Pearl's time."
Washington is currently at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where mayor Bill de Blasiop roclaimed Saturday to be "Pearl Washington Day." His number was also retired at his high school on Saturday.
Keep Pearl in your thoughts, Orange fans.
