What Are Syracuse Athletics' Best-Performing Programs?

Syracuse Athletics have seen a jump in overall program success in recent years.

The Daily Orange recently broke down Syracuse Orange Athletics' success with their own formula to see just how successful this current academic year has been compared to previous ones.

They decided to add up the points determined from the formula for every year since the 2001-2002 season, when Syracuse cut their wrestling program.

With their formula, they determined that only the 2012-2013 athletic season was more successful than the 2015-2016 season (so far). Currently, this athletic season is only 19 points back of the mark that was set during the 2012-2013 season, and with plenty of teams still in action, there is a shot that they could surpass it.

To no one's real surprise the highest scoring program over these past 15 years has been Men's Lacrosse with 202 points. MLAX is followed by Field Hockey (151 points), Women's Lacrosse (131 points), Men's Cross Country (86 points), Men's Basketball (80 points). In case you're wondering, Football scored 56 points. The only current programs not to score any points are both Rowing teams and Volleyball.

In the most recent Director's Cup Standings, Syracuse was ranked sixth and no matter how it ends up this year will be one to rememer.
