Two Syracuse Orange seniors have been named to the All-ACC Women's Lacrosse Team. Kayla Treanor was named to the First Team, while Mallory Vehar has earned a spot on the second team. The players are voted onto teams by the conference's head coaches after the regular season is over.
Here is the entire list of the entire ACC First and Second Team.
Treanor has had an outstanding season. Her biggest accomplishment in 2016 was scoring her 251st career goal, becoming the all-time leading scorer in program history. In the ACC, she ranks first in assists (1.75 APG) and draw controls at over nine per game, which is also first in the entire country. Treanor has tallied 69 points so far this season (4 goals, 28 assists).
This is the fourth time Treanor has been named to the ACC First Team, she has never missed the cut in her collegiate career.
Vehar is on the defensive end and doesn't boast the same statistics as Treanor, but she is a lockdown defender. She is the leader of the Orange defense, which has held opponents to ten goals or less in 11 of their 18 regular season games. Vehar is tied for first on Syracuse in caused turnovers (23), third in groundballs (23), and she has even taken draws ranking third on the Orange in draw controls (12).
The two seniors look to lead the Orange to another ACC title as thy take on Boston College today at 5pm. The Eagles defeated the Orange 13-8 in mid March. Syracuse looks for revenge to advance to the ACC semifinal.
Here are highlights from Syracuse last tune-up game before the ACC tourney where they defeated number eight Louisville.
