Hey Syracuse Orange fans, break out your orange that you're already wearing because we've got us a good old-fashioned Orange Out on September 9 when the Louisville Cardinals come to town.
Orange will be the color of the day when the Syracuse football team hosts Louisville in its Atlantic Coast Conference opener Friday, Sept. 9 at the Carrier Dome. Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite orange 'Cuse gear for an 'Orange Out' against the Cardinals.
To celebrate the occasion, all Syracuse fans are invited to submit designs for the official 'Orange Out' t-shirt. The winning design will be chosen in an online vote in July, and the T-shirts will be available for purchase at participating retail stores in August. Details on the contest and instructions on how to submit designs will be announced soon.
There's nothing essentially new about Syracuse Athletics calling for an Orange Out for an upcoming football game. We will, however, note that this is happening in April and not the week before the game happens, which is how it had usually been done in recent years. So, progress is progress.
As an example, last year's Orange Out was against Wake Forest, a game that took place on September 12. The very first mention of an Orange Out on Cuse.com comes up as September 3.
The game is also "Medical Appreciation Night," which has nothing to do with your medical marijuana dispenser but is in fact in "honor of all members of the medical profession who work to keep our communities healthy." Special group ticket rates will be available for doctors, nurses, hospital employees, and all other medical professionals and office groups.
I don't care how many lives they've saved, they just better wear orange...
