Four-star forward Hameir Wright has been offered by Syracuse, Scout.com reports. Wright is currently ranked as the 19th best small forward in the Class of 2017 on Scout and is listed at 6'8", 205 pounds. ESPN lists Wright as a power forward and ranks him 59th overall.
Wright is from Albany and plays for the Albany City Rocks in the EBYL, the same team that head coach Jim Boeheim's son plays on. Current Syracuse players DaJuan Coleman and Tyler Lydon, as well as outgoing transfer Chinonso Obokoh, have all previously played for the City Rocks.
"It was fun to get that offer," Wright told Scout about the Orange. "They are right in my backyard, so it was good to get the offer from them."
This past weekend the forward put up two 16 point games in the EBYL tournament in Indianapolis. Wright has been getting interest from many schools including Villanova, Maryland, Virginia, and Miami, amongst others.
City Rocks coach Jim Hart describes Wright as a shooter who "handles it really well for a big guy." Hart said "when the moment calls for it, he brings it."
