The Syracuse Orange men's lacrosse team (8-4, 2-2 ACC) will be the No. 4 seed in next weekend's ACC Tournament, and they will face-off against the top-seed North Carolina Tar Heels (8-5, 3-1 ACC) in the first semifinal at 6 p.m. this Friday at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Coming into this weekend, we already knew that the Orange would me matched up with the Tar Heels in the tournament. All that was left to determine was the seeding, which was decided on Saturday afternoon when North Carolina defeated No. 1 ranked Notre Dame, 17-15, in Chapel Hill. That victory clinched the ACC regular season title and the No. 1 tournament seed for UNC.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (9-2, 3-1 ACC) will be the No. 2 seed in next weekend's tournament, and they will face the No. 3 seed Duke Blue Devils (9-6, 2-2 ACC) in the second semifinal on Friday night.
The championship game will be contested at noon on Sunday, with the ACC Tournament title and the NCAA Tournament's automatic bid on the line.
Friday's semifinal match ups are a repeat of last year's ACC Tournament semifinals, when Syracuse defeated North Carolina and Duke defeated Notre Dame. The Orange went on to win the ACC Tournament title by beating Duke in the championship game.
Syracuse beat North Carolina 13-7 in the Carrier Dome in the regular season meeting between the two teams just one week ago.
All of the ACC Tournament games will be televised on ESPNU, streamed on ESPN3 and broadcast on TK99, as well.
