Syracuse Basketball: Columbia Grad Transfer Grant Mullins Visiting SU Today

The Ivy Leaguer would play right away at whichever school he chooses.

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Back in March, we found out that the Syracuse Orange would be targeting Columbia Lions graduate transfer Grant Mullins. The guard will graduate this spring but has a year of eligibility left, so can play right away.

As a source confirmed to Syracuse.com, it seems the Ivy Leaguer is up at Syracuse today, as his list apparently narrows to three schools: Michigan, California and SU. He'll visit Cal (who could get right back in this?) on Monday, according to CBS's Jon Rothstein.

Mullins stands at 6-foot-4,and did very well for Columbia over the course of his career, despite the team's own struggles. Last season, he averaged 13.3 points per game with 3.3 assists. He also hit 43.1 percent of his three-point tries (on 153 attempts).

Syracuse is obviously in the market for some backcourt help with starters Trevor Cooney and Michael Gbinije departing due to each using up their respective eligibility. Frank Howard and Tyus Battle are assured to be available at guard positions next season, while the team waits to hear on whether Malachi Richardson will return or not.

Following announcements that Kaleb Joseph and Chino Obokoh would transfer, the Orange currently have three open scholarships for next year.
