Vote Now for the Syracuse Athlete of the Week

Another strong weekend for the Syracuse Orange athletes. Let's take a look at some of the top performers from the last week.

Congratulations to last week's TNIAAM Syracuse Athlete of the Week Brianna Butler, who won with a record number of votes. Let's look at this week's nominees:

Sammy Fernandez- Softball

Sammy collected 7 hits in 13 at-bats, and scored 5 runs, in the Orange's series win over the Virginia Cavaliers. In doing so, she raised her batting average from .271 to .299, which is 2nd-best on the team.

Riley Donahue- W. Lacrosse

Riley led the Orange with 4 goals in the 19-5 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies. The sophomore is 2nd on the team with 28 goals this season.

Anna Shkudun-Tennis

Anna delivered the deciding point in Syracuse's 4-3 victory over the Louisville Cardinals on Sunday. The Orange have won four straight ACC contests to even their conference record at 6-6.

Mary Malone- W. Track & Field

Mary placed 5th in the 5k at the Sam Howell Invitational with a time of 16:56.97. Her time was good enough for 4th place in the event.

Freddie Crittenden III- M. Track & Field

Freddie started his outdoor season with a win in the 110 hurdles at the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational. His time of 13.53 is the 2nd-fastest collegiate time this season, and qualifies him for the NCAA Regionals.

Jonathan Dawson- M. Rowing

Jonathan helped the Orange Varsity 8 boat to a win over the 12th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday. Syracuse rallied from behind to secure the win in their season opener.
