Syracuse Orange (19-12, 9-9) vs Pitt Panthers (20-10, 9-9) ACC Tournament GameThread

Two rivals enter. One rival leaves with the possibility of still getting an NCAA Tournament bid.

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

The Syracuse Orange have lost twice to the Pittsburgh Panthers this season. They hope third time's the charm as the two will meet again in the second round of the 2016 ACC Tournament.

Both teams are considered to either be barely in or barely out of the NCAA Tournament, depending on who you ask, making a win here feel like a play-in game before the tourney even starts.

Opening tip is schedule for 12:00 p.m. at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.  and the game will be televised on ESPN and ESPN3.

In their third season in the league, Syracuse is still looking for their first ACC Tournament victory. They were upset by NC State in their only game two years ago and self-banned from participating in last year's brackets.

All eyes will be on Michael Gbinije and Trevor Cooney, two graduating players with varying legacies at play. Gbinije has had a fantastic season in which he was honored as All-ACC Second Team. Cooney, meanwhile, remains an enigma looking for one last saving grace before he's remembered ignominiously by some fans.

We're split on whether or not the Orange will be able to pull off the victory. Sounds about right.
