No. 14 Syracuse Women's Basketball Acheives Highest Rank Ever

It's been a season of firsts and new heights for the Orange.

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

It's been a season of great wins, new experiences, and firsts for Syracuse Orange women's basketball. With a great ACC Tournament run behind them and the possibility of hosting NCAA Tournament games ahead, they received one more new first on Monday. Their first time ever being ranked inside the Top 15.

A week after being ranked No. 17 for the first-time ever, the Orange are now No. 14 in the AP Poll. They got there thanks to wins over N.C. State and now-No. 8 Louisville as well as a hard-fought loss to No. 2 Notre Dame in the ACC Championship game.

If things hold, Syracuse should end up with 4-seed in the NCAA Tournament, which would mean they'd host the first two rounds. ESPN's Charlie Creme has SU as a 4-seed out of the Dallas Regional while College Sports Madness has SU as a 4-seed out of the Bridgeport Regional, which would put us directly in UConn's path.

For a program that's never made it out of the first weekend, this is huge. Hopefully it's a sign that there are yet more firsts to come.
