The Syracuse Orange had a great run in the 2016 ACC Tournament, defeating the North Carolina State Wolfpack on Friday and then the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday. They could not, however, keep up with the No. 2 Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday though, losing 68-57. Syracuse gave a strong effort but fatigue and Notre Dame's star power were simply too much.
Madison Cable and Brianna Turner both put up 18 points for the Irish and Cable hit a career high six three-pointers against the Orange. The All-ACC 1st-teamer was also able to shut down Brianna Butler, who scored only six points and shot 22%.
Alexis Peterson led all scorers with 19 points and she was named to the All-Tourney 1st-team following the game. Cornelia Fondren was named to the All-Tourney 2nd-team. She finished the game with 10 points and eight rebounds.
While SU's ACC tournament run was fun, Coach Q insists they aren't done yet. He says SU "should host an NCAA tournament game."
It does appear they will host an NCAA Tourney game in the Dome, at least, according to ESPN Bracketologist expert Charlie Creme. The NCAA selection show is a week from Monday. Syracuse hopes to be at least a four-seed, so they can host the first two rounds of the Tourney.
