2016 NCAA Women's Tournament: Syracuse Orange (27-7) vs. South Carolina Gamecocks (33-1) GameThread

Can the Orange make history while also making history? Does that make sense?

Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports

Whenever the Syracuse Orange women's basketball team needs to break new ground, the South Carolina Gamecocks are always there to try to stand in their way. Last time the Orange were on the verge of making it to the Sweet Sixteen, it was the mighty Gamecocks who felled them. This time, they've made it to the Sweet Sixteen but now South Carolina stands between the Orange and their first Elite Eight.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. EST in the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls and the game will be televised on ESPN.

The Orange have dominated so far in the NCAA Tournament and their usual leaders, Alexis Peterson and Brittney Sykes, have been leading the way.

The Orange have their work cut out for them when it comes to the 33-1 Gamecocks who are heavily favored.

The computers don't favor the Orange but they don't entirely count them out either.
