Speaking with the media, head coach John Desko said he is "hoping" to have Tim Barber back on the first attack line, although he did add that "it's not guaranteed yet". Barber was hurt at the end of the first half in Syracuse's win over Albany on Sunday.
The bad news, however, is that Nick Piroli, who missed the Albany game, remains sidelined with an unspecified lower-body injury. Desko has indicated that Piroli is "week-to-week" moving forward.
Barber moved up to the first attack line at the start of the Albany game to fill in for Piroli. If it turns out that he is unable to go against Army or is limited, then expect to see a trio of freshmen lining up at the third attack spot alongside Dylan Donahue and Jordan Evans.
Devin Shewell, Nate Solomon, and Gale Thorpe all saw time at attack in the second half against Albany, with Shewell leading the charge by scoring two goals.
Coach Desko had some encouraging things to say about Devin Shewell on Thursday:
"Watching the film of the game afterwards, he seemed to fit in very well...He was in the right place at the right time, got a couple of goals, (was) moving without the ball. So he seemed to understand the offense. He fit in almost seamlessly. So that was pretty encouraging".
Syracuse will return to the field on Sunday when they take on Army in the Carrier Dome at 4 pm on ESPN 3.
