TNIAAM Athlete of the Week is Back

The Iowa Caucus isn't the only voting going on this week. The first TNIAAM Athlete of the Week vote of 2016 is live.

Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

After an extended break, the TNIAAM Athlete of the Week executive committee is ready to get back to work. Here is our first vote of 2016, so let's get right to this week's Syracuse Orange candidates:

Jessica Sibley- Ice Hockey

Jessica scored the game-winning OT goal against Mercyhurst on Saturday. It was a crucial win for the Orange who remain in 2nd place in the CHA.

Brittany Sykes- Basketball

Brittany became the 25th player in SU history to score 1,000 points in her career. She reached the milestone last week in the Orange's 62-61 win over Boston College.

Gabriela Knutson- Tennis

Gabriela helped lead the Orange to 3 wins over the weekend, including a win over #58 Columbia. She was 3-0 in singles competition (playing at the 2nd and 3rd spots) and 2-1 in doubles competition with fellow freshmen Dina Hegab.

Shaina Harrison- Track and Field

Shaina was the top collegiate sprinter in the 60m dash at the Penn State National meet. Her time of 7.36 is fastest in the ACC this season.

Justyn Knight- Track and Field

Justyn made his 1st official indoor track appearance in a Syracuse uniform memorable. His 3:56.87 mile set a new Syracuse school record and is the fastest time in the country so far.

As usual, write-in votes are encouraged in the comments.
