Syracuse football hires Jake Olson as operations & recruiting assistant

Dino Babers keeps growing his staff at SU.

NCAA Football: North Carolina State at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

A few times during the Syracuse Orange football season, coach Dino Babers mentioned (not too subtly) that he needed a larger staff to properly compete in the ACC. In-season, SU listened, and added three to the recruiting staff. Today, the Orange added another name to the growing list.

Jake Olson has been named operations and recruiting assistant. Olson’s a recent Eastern Illinois grad and is the younger brother of defensive grad assistant Ben Olson. Jake also has experience working as a Yale football operations assistant this year.

While the number of full-time coaches on the roster is limited for FBS schools, there are no barriers to adding more support staff. Since he arrived, Babers has managed to take advantage there, and continue to build out the personnel around him to grow this football program. Recruiting, particularly, has been a major focus. The four additions since the start of November bolster an already extensive staff in that department. Seven different people on the football staff now hold a recruiting-related title.

Welcome aboard, Jake. Looking forward to seeing your work with the staff pay off in the closing month or so of the 2017 recruiting cycle.
