James Southerland’s efforts to get back to the NBA aren’t over yet.

Southie played in one game for the Charlotte Hornets in 2013 and then three games for the New Orleans Pelicans in 2014. Otherwise, his pro career has been spent across the pond in France, Germany, and Italy. He was playing for s.Oliver Wurzburg of the German league but he’s now headed back to the States with a contract deal playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the D-League.

Santa Cruz is, of course, affiliated with the Golden State Warriors. They’re currently 3-7 on the year.

It’s not his first stint in the NBA’s minor league. He played 42 games for the Los Angeles D-Fenders in between those NBA stints, averaging 14.7 points per game while there. Let’s hope he can find that same success and parlay it into another shot in the bigs.
