Syracuse Women’s Basketball cruises 95-63 over Central Connecticut State

The Orange pick up their second-straight win

The No. 20 Syracuse Orange (6-3) got back on track last week with a big win over a ranked opponent. This weekend, we kept the momentum going by cruising in a game they were supposed to cruise in (take note, men’s squad).

Alexis Peterson and Brittney Sykes both scored 26 points as the Orange picked up a 95-63 victory over the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils. SU never trailed in the game and led by at 10 points or for most of the game.

Briana Day added 22 points and eight rebounds while Sykes added 14 rebounds to her big points total.

Peterson and Sykes both getting past 25 points is the first time two Orange players hit that mark in the same game since March 18, 2009.

If there was anything cause for concern, it was SU’s three-point shooting. The Orange finished 12-of-41 (29 percent) and aside from Peterson and Gabby Cooper, no one else had a good night from beyond the arc. Four separate players went 0-for-4 from three-point range.

SU returns to action on Wednesday when they host Coppin State at 11 a.m. in the Dome. The game is School Day and tons of local students will be attending the game in a very smart attendance move (Attendance was 935 Sunday).
