The Syracuse Orange football game against NC State this Saturday is Military Appreciation Day. Last week, Clemson wore purple at home to honor the Armed Forces. This week, Syracuse will be wearing a combination of blue and PLATINUM.

Once again, it’s another new combination for Syracuse this season — though also one that (once again) doesn’t involve much of the team’s signature color of orange. As the graphic points, the helmet decal is also a new detail, using a camouflage pattern on the traditional block S.
We’d figured the PLATINUM uniforms would be making a return this season after Syracuse went out and upset Virginia Tech while wearing them in October. Coach Dino Babers comes from a military family himself, so this day was a big priority for him on the schedule (as it should be). Babers has frequently sported camo-patterned hats during games this season, so the camo block S also fails to surprise.
For those curious, Syracuse is just 1-4 wearing the blue helmets (only win vs. Colgate), 1-1 in PLATINUM jerseys and 2-5 in the blue pants. Though the 2016 season seemed to start off very orange-focused from a uniform front, the team’s failed to wear any orange in four of the last six games now.
