As is customary each Monday, the Syracuse Orange have released their depth chart for the upcoming week. These are rarely comprehensive for all changes leading into the upcoming game. But they do provide hints from what was in the works the previous week. Today’s release for SU’s game vs. the NC State Wolfpack is no exception.

The key difference, obviously, is the large “OR” placed between Zack Mahoney and Austin Wilson at the quarterback position. Eric Dungey’s still listed atop the depth chart, but that could certainly change over the course of the week. So the “OR” may become a question of who’s starting for the Orange against the Wolfpack.
Wilson was surprisingly inserted in relief of Dungey against Clemson, and went 17-for-27, for 116 yards and two interceptions. Mahoney came in late in the fourth, going 1-for-4 for eight yards. Neither line really inspires a clear choice, though Mahoney obviously has more historically positive results to bank on.
Elsewhere on the depth chart, Brisly Estime was also moved to the top of the kick returner two-deep — which makes sense since that’s where he was for the early part of the Clemson game. After Estime suffered an undisclosed injury, Riley re-took his primary kick returning duties, and managed seven for 178 yards (including one he almost broke for a TD).
This is a week of uncertainty for Syracuse right now, and the depth chart won’t shed much light there. Any thoughts on what we’re seeing here? Share below.
