Syracuse vs. Georgetown in the NCAA Tournament is a broadcaster’s wet dream. It’s also what Joe Lunardi sees right now in his first bracketology of the season (albeit a very, very, very early one).
Don’t count Joe among those convinced Syracuse will be as good as they look on paper. He’s slotted SU as a six-seed in the East Region. What’s interesting is who their 11-seed opponent would be: The Georgetown Hoyas. The game would take place in Orlando with the right to move on to play the winner of 3-seed Michigan State and 14-seed Vermont.
Talk about a TROLL pod. We get Georgetown for the right to either play The Team Who Lost or F***ing Vermont.
As Chris Carlson notes, it’s unlikely that this scenario could actually happen since SU and G’town play during the regular season and the committee avoids first-round rematches as much as possible.
Lunardi has Duke, Kansas, Oregon, and Kentucky as his one-seeds. He also has nine total ACC teams, the most of any conference.
