Following their 3-0 victory over Dartmouth last weekend, the fifth-seed Syracuse Orange soccer squad’s reward was to host the ninth-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels on Sunday.
Thanks to last weekend’s snowstorm, that’s no longer entirely true.
Due to field conditions at the SU Soccer Stadium, Syracuse's NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament Sweet 16 match against North Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 27 has been moved to Murphy Field on the campus of Onondaga Community College (OCC). Match time is set for 2 p.m.
OCC's field is artificial turf and easier to get in game-shape.
If you’re a student looking to attend the game, good news. A bus will be available to transport SU students to the game, loading at 1 p.m. at the College Place bus stop and returning to campus 15 minutes after the game. The bus is free to all students.
Too bad they couldn’t have figured out how to play in the Carrier Dome. That would have been a pretty unique opportunity, especially given that it’s an NCAA Tournament game. There doesn’t appear to be anything going on in the Dome that day but there probably also isn’t the appropriate field markings available either.
In their one meeting earlier this season, UNC and SU played to a 0-0 draw. SU is 0-2-2 in their last four games vs. UNC, dating back to the 2013 season.
