Aaaaaand, unfortunately Preston’s chosen Kansas. So that’s one not coming to Syracuse... there’s a chance for two more prospects to still end up in Orange, however, between Saturday and Monday.

Original story

As Adam Zagoria has pointed out, this is quite the four-day stretch for Syracuse Orange basketball on the recruiting trail. Bourama Sidibe will announce his decision on Monday, Quade Green’s choice is set for Saturday and now we add a third name to list of high-profile Orange targets committing (somewhere) this weekend:

Billy Preston is a five-star power forward from Santa Ana, Calif. He’ll be choosing between his “hometown” team USC, along with Syracuse, Indiana and Kansas this afternoon/evening.

ESPN’s Paul Biancardi was the first to report the news of his announcement, which will take place on ESPNU, as indicated above.

Preston, who’s 6-foot-10 and 230 pounds, is currently attending Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, which has churned out some familiar faces for Orange fans, like Carmelo Anthony and Eric Devendorf. 247Sports rates him as the country’s fifth-best player, while the 247 composite says he’s the 12th-best. Either way, pretty damn good.

While he wrapped up his official visits last month, it seems that he’s now prepared to announce the results of his recruitment. He took an official to USC on October 28, though he has some ties to the program and visits frequently. He was at Indiana on October 21 and Syracuse on October 15. The Orange first offered him on October 3, so they haven’t been in the game for an incredibly long time here. Preston’s visit to Kansas (which some consider the favorite here) back on September 30.

Billy, best of luck in your decision tonight. We certainly hope you pick Syracuse -- not just because of the value you have as a player, but because of the Billy Preston music references we get to make for as long as you’re here (and probably after too) if you commit.
