Syracuse men’s soccer snags eight-seed in NCAA Tournament

SU is in the NCAAs for the fourth time in five seasons.

For the third-straight year, the Syracuse Orange men’s soccer team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. This time, they’ll be an eight-seed, good enough for a first-round bye in this year’s tourney (full bracket here).

When they do play on Sunday, November 20, the Orange will host either Dartmouth or St. Francis (Brooklyn) at SU Soccer Stadium. The game will kick at 2: 00 p.m.

Tickets for the game are available for $8 for adults and $5 for youth 18 and under, students with an NCAA ID. and seniors 65 and over.

Dartmouth (8-4-5) won the Ivy League this season and will host the opening round match. St. Francis (12-4-3) won the Northeast Conference Tournament. If the Big Green win, it’ll be the second-straight year SU and Dartmouth meet in the NCAAS. Syracuse picked up a 2-1 win over them in the second round of last year’s tournament. SU and St. Francis haven’t played since 1988.

For the Orange, it’s a solid follow-up to their highly-successful run last season. Then, they were a six-seed and made it all the way to the College Cup for the first time before falling to Clemson 0-0 on penalty kicks.

Unsurprisingly, this year’s road back to the College Cup is paved with ACC foes. If the Orange win their first game, they’ll likely meet nine-seed North Carolina in the next round. The ACC actually has nine teams in the tournament, seven of which are in the top 16 seeds.
