Syracuse Orange wide receiver Amba Etta-Tawo has been named among 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award. The honor, awarded by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation Inc., recognizes the most outstanding receiver in college football (regardless of position).
As most have noticed by now, Etta-Tawo has also reset the record books at SU since arriving as a grad transfer from Maryland this season. On the year, he has 78 catches, 1,242 yards -- putting him sixth in the nation in both categories. He also has eight touchdown receptions, including an impressive 81-yarder against NC State last week.
Etta-Tawo’s competition for the award will be stiff. The other nine names in the top 10:
- Austin Carr, Northwestern
- Corey Davis, Western Michigan
- Carlos Henderson, Louisiana Tech
- Zay Jones, East Carolina
- John Ross, Washington
- Taywan Taylor, Western Kentucky
- Trent Taylor, Louisiana Tech
- James Washington, Oklahoma State
- Dede Westbrook, Oklahoma
Some names some may be surprised to see absent there: Cal’s Chad Hansen, UConn’s Noel Thomas and Middle Tennessee’s Richie James, among others.
Etta-Tawo only gets one more week to impress the committee of voters before the list is shortened again to three semifinalists. The winner is announced on December 8 at the Home Depot College Football Awards.

You can place a vote for Etta-Tawo at the Biletnikoff Award’s Fan Vote site. The Fan Vote only counts as one toward the total, but nothing wrong with SU fans showing some love to the redshirt senior.
Best of luck, Amba!
