Syracuse vs. Colgate Official TNIAAM Predictions & Poll

NCAA Basketball: Colgate at Syracuse Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

It’s the season opener! The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team tips off tonight at 7 p.m. ET against the Colgate Raiders. SU finishes its preseason 2-0, with two pretty easy wins over IUP and Le Moyne. Will that translate into a win over Colgate? In 167 meetings, the Orange own a 122-45 record against the Raiders, including 50 straight victories dating back to 1963.

So what does the TNIAAM staff think will happen tonight? Will it be 51 straight?

This will probably play out like the last exhibition game where Colgate hangs around during the 1st half. Look for Syracuse to pull away in the 2nd half as the difference in talent takes over. I don't know that Andrew White will continue to shoot 67% from 3, but I think this is the kind of game where he can take over.

It's going to be a fun night in the Dome Friday night. The team is deep and ready to show the country what this roster can do. It's going to take a while for this team to reach its full capabilities, but what better team than Colgate to get things started against? The Orange are the superior team, and under their own roof, or Dome, they will make it known. Look for Lydon to snap out of his cold streak and get the season on the roll.

Syracuse buckles down in the half court and plays respectable defense in the 2-3 while mixing in a few minutes of press. The offense picks up where it left off Tuesday night with Tyler Lydon, Tyus Battle, Andrew White and Tyler Roberson all in double figures.

Knowing how you, Jane Q. Syracuse Fan likes to get all nervous and such to start out games/seasons, SU will find themselves down early, before making a run and putting this one away in the first half. The defense will look rocky as this group still tries to figure out the zone. That won’t stop them from scoring, however. At the very least, Andrew White and Tyus Battle each top 15 points en route to the big win.

Now it’s your turn...
