The Syracuse Orange field hockey team came into their final ACC regular season home game with something to prove. The Orange had dropped to No. 4 in the nation a few weeks back and had to watch as conference rivals Duke and North Carolina sat ahead of them.
The next poll should be a little different as the Orange dominated the Duke Blue Devils, 5-1, on Friday.
SU completely took control from the get-go, with two goals from Roos Weers and Emma Lamison en route to a 4-0 lead at the half. Duke got on the board in the second half but Elaine Carey's seventh goal of the season neutralized it.
SU outshot Duke 14-10 and converted on five-of-10 penalty corners while goalie Regan Spencer made five saves.
The Orange now head to Cornell on Sunday. Game time is at 3 p.m. in Ithaca, New York and you can watch the game the on Ivy League Digital Network. SU has three more games after that and then it'll be ACC Tournament time.
