Syracuse Orange coach Jim Boeheim paid Oak Hill Academy’s Billy Preston a visit on Monday. He didn’t come empty handed.

The head Orange offered the 6-10 senior forward a full scholarship for the Class of 2017.

Preston is originally from Los Angeles, attended Advanced Prep in Dallas, Texas, and transferred to Oak Hill for this final year. He’s rated five stars across the board. ESPN says he’s the 20th-best recruit in the class, 247 says 12th, and Scout says 8th.

As you might imagine, he’s got a few other offers as well, including USC, Arizona, Kansas, Indiana, Maryland, Texas and North Carolina State. He had previously whittled down his list but decided to re-open his recruitment recently.

SU has had success in the past recruiting from Oak Hill. You might remember some guys named Carmelo Anthony, Billy Edelin, Eric Devendorf and Baye Moussa Keita.
