The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team is coming off of their best-ever season with high hopes for 2016-2017. Senior guard Alexis Peterson is at the top of the roster as a leader and scorer and she’s one of twenty players on the watch list for the 2017 Nancy Lieberman Award, which recognizes the top point guard in women's NCAA Division I basketball.
Peterson comes into the season 16th all-time in scoring with 1,207 career points. She’s also currently ninth in SU history with an average of 3.6 assists per game. Last season she dominated during the Orange’s post-season run, averaging 20.7 point per game in those contests. She ended up receiving All-ACC First Team, ACC All-Defensive Team, and All-ACC Tournament accolades.
Peterson is also one of only four ACC players on the watch list.
