Each day leading up to Orange Madness we will be releasing our player previews for the 2016-2017 Syracuse basketball season. Today’s player preview: Tyler Lydon
It’s finally here. Each day for the past two weeks we’ve released our player previews leading up to Orange Madness. With the Orange on full display tonight we release our final player preview, Tyler Lydon.
Lydon is coming off a raucous freshman season. He quickly came onto the scene with his performance in the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament and maintained his steady play throughout the season.
Lydon figures to earn a starting role at the forward position opposite of Tyler Roberson. His ability to stretch the defense with his shooting makes him a tough cover for any defender. Lydon is versatile and can play either forward position and well as the center spot in the zone.
The challenge for Lydon will be going from a role player to the top of opponent’s scouting reports. He has to be able to go 35 minutes with the other team’s best defender guarding him. He’ll have to score with the ball in his hands more this season — taking it off the bounce is a requisite. He can afford an off night with the talent around him, but Lydon will undoubtedly be Syracuse’s first option on offense this season.
