Tyler Lydon makes watch list for some Karl Malone award thing

Lydon is one of 20 players who made the preseason list

I swear they’re just making up new college athletics awards all the time and I’m convinced the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award is something one of you came up with.

Regardless, Tyler Lydon made the watchlist for this thing and this immediately legitimizes it.

This award apparently recognizes the top power forward in Division 1 men's college basketball each year, but you probably gathered that from the name. Lydon is one of 20 Division 1 players included on the list, which was determined by a “national committee of top collegiate basketball personnel.” That could literally be anyone.

The list will be narrowed down to 10 players at midseason and five finalists will be announced in March. The winner will be announced at the ESPN College Basketball Awards on April 7, 2017.

Lydon comes into the 2016-2017 season as the presumed scoring leader on the squad and should end up coming away with some hardware, be it Karl Malone-related or otherwise.
