Syracuse vs. Virginia Tech depth chart: Fredericks exits doghouse

“Fat Back” lives!

The Syracuse Orange depth chart finally seems to be catching up with what’s happening on the field. There are a few changes here and there for SU’s matchup with the Virginia Tech Hokies. But you’ll notice the major one at the running back spot.

Jordan Fredericks, long a resident of some sort of Dino Babers doghouse, finds himself back on the two-deep for the first time since week one or so. While “Fat Back” was the team’s leading rusher in 2015, he’d been used sparingly all season until this past week against Wake Forest. He had three touches for 31 yards vs. the Deacons -- and not just in garbage time, as had been the case in previous games.

In other changes, Brisly Estime is the primary punt returner. It’s a role that he’s gradually taken back over the last few weeks, but it’s finally set in stone now.

Other than that, everything’s pretty much the same from last week. Injuries have still taken their toll on this offensive line, and it’s likely that continues.
